Wendy’s career in education began 17 years ago as a middle school language arts and Spanish teacher at a small parochial school in the Fox Valley. Since then, she has taught students in grades 3K-12th in rural, suburban, and urban communities in Wisconsin, Mexico, and Costa Rica. After experiencing the impact of mental health on student success and well-being, she was inspired to pursue a Master’s degree in school counseling. She has most recently worked as a school counselor, PBIS coach, and clinical coordinator for a school-based mental health program, opportunities which have ignited her passion for school culture and climate, trauma-sensitive practices, equity, and yoga/mindfulness in education.
Wendy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from UW Oshkosh with licensure in English, Spanish, ESL and bilingual education, a Master’s degree in School Counseling from Lakeland University, is a Breathe For Change Wellness Champion and 200-hour certified yoga instructor. She currently lives in Madison, WI with her spouse and two rescue dogs. Together they enjoy exploring and adventuring in the great outdoors.
