Katharine's responsibilities include creating and coordinating online learning, facilitating professional learning, and developing educational resources. In addition, Katherine plans, organizes, communicates, and helps evaluate WISH Center projects.
Hello! I am delighted to join the WISH Center team after 20 years of experience in education having served students and staff at the elementary, middle and high school levels as a school counselor, and as a School Counseling System Specialist.
Educators inspire me. They create the communities of belonging our students and families enter. I believe that schools can be safe and supportive learning places for students of all backgrounds and diverse abilities when they commit to trauma sensitive social and emotional learning practices, student-centered approaches to discipline, and effective multi-level supports for mental health.
I live with my husband Phil in Wauwatosa and we have two adult children. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from UW - Milwaukee. In 2014 I completed National Board Certification and in 2017 I was completely honored to meet Michelle Obama and represent Wisconsin as Wisconsin School Counselor of the Year in Washington, DC. In my spare time, I can be found hiking, kayaking and cycling with friends and family, as well as cooking, knitting and digging in the garden.
